Hailing from Lahore, from a dynasty of eight generations of qawwals, he rose in the ranks when Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan himself chose Faiz Ali Faiz to replace him at a Qawwali mehfil when he fell ill – endorsing his talent and trust for the art of Qawwali.
